OUTREACH AND RESIDENCIES:
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Every year, Company C Contemporary Ballet donates hundreds of tickets to organizations that serve those that would not otherwise have the means or opportunity to attend our performances. Organizations that have benefitted from this program include the Salvation Army, Wesley Group Homes, Golden Gate Seniors, the Jewish Community Center Seniors, East Oakland Leadership Academy, the Shanti Project, and many others.
In 2009, the Company is honored to have received generous grants from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and the Wells Fargo Foundation to underwrite its educational and community outreach activities in the 2009 Season. The grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will make possible master classes and choreography workshops for dance students in Contra Costa and Alameda Counties followed by a free performance for students and their families in downtown Oakland.
EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH
Artistic Director Charles Anderson provides commentary for the Company’s lecture/demonstrations, which show basic ballet barre and center and demonstrate choreography from the Company’s repertoire. The lecture/demonstrations last approximately 40 minutes and can be tailored for different age groups.
