THE ENVELOPE

Choreography: David Parsons

Music: Gioacchino Rossini

New to the 2008 repertoire is David Parsons’ hilarious signature work which pits seven dancers against a persistent piece of stationery. Don't miss this hallmark of contemporary ballet, described as “ingenious” by Anna Kisselgoff of the New York Times.

STARSHADOWS

Choreography: Michael Smuin

Music: Maurice Ravel

The Company is pleased to honor the memory of Michael Smuin with its performances of Starshadows, a romantic adagio for three couples that is one of his most beautiful and graceful works.

ARMENIA

World Premiere: Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, April 12-13, 2008

Music: Ten Armenian folk songs and dances by Vardapet Komitas

Choreography: Twyla Tharp

Twyla Tharp’s new duet features challenging ballet technique as well as her trademark humor and off-beat timing.  The Company is honored to have been selected as the first to perform this work by master choreographer Twyla Tharp.
